Swimming, eating, dancing and singing with your friends. What more can a girl do on her 11th birthday? Ashley had a few friends over to celebrate her birthday this year and considering how busy we have been this summer, Dave and I were happy to go low-key. Ashley asked for something simple, swimming and a backyard BBQ. It was super easy for us and the best part is that I think the girls had a lot of fun. The party was 4 hours long, but we could have easily kept the girls for longer.
Dave and I smiled to ourselves as we realized that Ashley is now the age where she and her friends just hang out and entertain themselves. No more Mommy and Daddy planning crafts and games and basically running themselves ragged. This is one aspect of growing up I love!
After swimming in our clubhouse pool for a few hours, we came back to our house to open presents and eat grilled hamburgers.
After dinner the girls plugged in the iPod for dancing and singing, outside and inside.
All too soon it was time to go home, luckily we were just able to squeeze in cake and ice cream.

Happy birthday Ashley from us too! Your party sounds like it was a lot of fun; I wish I could have been there! I would especially have loved the dancing and singing part because that's my favorite thing to do!
