Dave and I started the week out at two consecutive school board meetings. Both evenings we didn't get home until well-after nine pm. (Little did I know that we wouldn't leave a meeting the following week until after midnight! More on that in an upcoming post.) As the week wore on, we were juggling dinner, piano, youth night, and Dave's work. It was around this time that I was starting to feel a little cold coming on, put with no time to be sick, I just kept going. By Thursday, as the girls and I sat at a high school Orchesis dance concert, I knew I was sick. Fortunately, the concert was awesome and the music loud so even though my ears were plugged I could still enjoy it!
However, by the next day I was toast, but the calendar was still loaded. So I cancelled what I could and then had Dave cover for me on everything else. This guy had a long weekend of double duty and was so kind and patient about it all. On Friday, he got up early to get the kids off to school, later he had to pick up the both the girls from after-school activities, handle dinner, and then go work at the elementary school sock hop. He had to help Paige with her Hawaiian costume for the sock hop, pick up supplies, go over to the school to help set-up and then work the photo booth for over two hours. It was a long night but he was a good sport.
The next day, I was still pretty sick so he did the grocery shopping, bought birthday presents, took the kids to an ice skating birthday party and then got home just in time for Ashley's friends to come over for a game night.
This was Ashley's first boy/girl hangout, so I was just able to sneak this one picture with my iPhone. Can't have your mom coming around snapping a bunch of pictures. These kids are all just friends from church, they had fun time playing a bunch of games like Clue, Spot It, RLC and Apples to Apples, as well as eating tons of candy. So easy to please!
I'm still feeling pretty crappy, but have tried to resume most of my normal activities and with the help of a nap everyday it's working out. Dave and the girls have been so great. What a blessing to have a family that can work together and help one another!
