I wouldn't call us avid hockey fans, but playoff hockey is hard to resist, especially if your city is in the running. We've been following the Blackhawks this year because they were on a record-breaking winning streak early in the season. By the time the playoffs rolled around, they weren't favored to win but we enjoyed watching the games.
And then it happened--the Hawks came back from a 3 games to 1 deficit to beat the Detroit Redwings and all of sudden Chi-Town had a shot at the Stanley Cup. The Blackhawks ended up facing the Boston Bruins in the finals. The games were exciting, sudden-death overtime, epically long.
We weren't the only ones with fan fever, for game 6 some friends had a big party and we watched a too-good-to-be-true comeback victory by the Blackhawks.
The only downside was that we left for our summer vacation before the ticker tape parade or we would of for sure gone to it.
