It's a big change to leave after having spent a decade working for Deloitte. They have also been very good to him recently and he has some professional relationships that are hard to leave behind, but he felt like this new job provided him with a good career opportunity. Dave has been on a two year rotation that was coming to an end and so even if he stayed with Deloitte, he would have had to transition to something else. If you have to make a change, you might as well go big.
We both feel really good about this new job and Dave's decision, so hopefully everything will go well. One thing we do know for sure is that he will be a lot busier than he has been for the last two years. It is going to be a little bit of a rude awakening for me---I have gotten used to having him around a lot---but I also know we will be okay as we adjust. It's just how life is.
Dave started his new job mid-November just in time for the company holiday party. This was new because Deloitte stopped holding Christmas parties about 5 or so years ago. The party was held at the Museum of Science and Industry. We had a good time, enjoyed wandering around the museum and eating yummy food. Fortunately, we were able to meet up with the other guy who started with Dave and the two partners who interviewed him. Other than that, we really didn't know anyone as Dave had only been an employee for about 2 weeks!
